First impressions of Darwin – spotless, quiet, humid, beautiful waterfront, lovely people. We docked early this morning and after a quick breakfast, followed the boardwalk into Darwin itself. This afternoon we will visit the famous Mindil night market and partake of a drink as we watch the sunset over Darwin harbour.
The past few days spent at sea have been absolutely incredible. We had no idea that we would be travelling so close to the Queensland coastline. At times it has felt that we could just dive in and swim to shore.
Sailing around the topmost end of Australia two days ago was a fantastic experience.Not least because we managed to score a $50 bottle of Veuve Clicquot to toast the experience with. (Ship has been sold and they are emptying out their cellars)!!
Yesterdays ocean was surreal. I have never seen an ocean so flat. It was actually quite eerie at times especially when one spied the countless sea snakes and jelly fish visible from the decks. If interested there are a few more photos in our gallery.

loving your posts, reminded me of school….
‘Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.’
