Wet Weather Musings
It’s a wet Sunday morning – La Nina has made an early entrance this summer to the east coast of Australia, perfect weather to sit and get off a blog. A blog that will give some insight into life after the trip is over and the book published, a blog to thank all who have already purchased the end result.
Learning to Author
Not a very elegant heading – but very apt to my current situation. I am definitely learning what is involved once the book has been published. With my first book – Bucket Lists and Walking Sticks I really had no idea what to do after publication. I’ve learnt since then and time is filled with creating social media advertisements, weighing up Amazon versus Facebook ads, monitoring campaign results, liaising with local bookshops and everything else that is required to compete in the extremely competitive publication world. I’m realising that writing the actual book is the easy part.
Thank You
As anyone with a blog site can attest, creating and maintaining their sites – is a rewarding but time consuming business. Each site has hours and hours of time and energy poured into it. Thus it was incredibly rewarding to not only see the subscriber numbers to darmatravels.com increase but to have buyers actually purchase my book through this site. Thank you to everyone who has done so – and a big shout out to an old school friend Karen, my very first customer.
For those who haven’t discovered this yet, I have signed copies of both my books available. Unfortunately I can only post within Australia but links are provided for online overseas purchases. Just click here.
To Book Launch or Not
Bucket Lists and Walking Sticks was published in another world, a different time, life before Covid. As much as we would have loved to, and despite the numerous requests, Itchy Feet & Bucket Lists will not be receiving the same boisterous launch. Instead, the local bookshops have plenty of copies. Support local and check them out. Maybe a Christmas present for someone?

Been There Seen That
I have probably the itchiest feet of anyone I know – it drives Darryl crazy. I am always thinking of where we could travel, working on future itineraries, dreaming of travel ideas. But I am not going to change. I adore travelling, and I value what it brings to my life. I think those who travel are the better for it. Watching Barbados part way with the Queen this week and become the worlds newest republic again highlighted the educational aspects of travel. Having visited there last year, it was interesting to compare my memories with the news stories appearing. To read about my impressions of this small nation, follow this link.
