Staying Connected

Anyone who has ever travelled overseas soon realises how ridiculously confusing (and expensive) it is ensuring you stay connected once you leave Australian waters. Staying on our current plans (Telstra and Vaya) is out of the question. As we want to be able to contact family by phone or email at anytime and anywhere – we cant just rely on hooking up to free wi-fi where available. We need a provider and plan that offers data and calls anywhere at a good price.

After considerable research we have decided on the following. Countries where we are staying for more that a few days – Malaysia, Europe, England, we will buy new sims with a good local plan. For those other times where we will require connection (where free wi-fi is not available) we will use the Prepaid TravelSim offered by Australia Post. We were able to buy two for the price of one. While I have read a lot about this Sim, in the whole there were many more positive reviews than negative. What this will mean family – is that we will at times have new phone numbers.
